Final Meeting of the Jury
ThyssenKrupp Elevator Architecture Award 2008-2009

In Dubai, in the Dubai Municipality building, at 11:00 a.m. on the 29th of April, 2009, the final Jury meeting of the ThysssenKrupp Elevator Architecture Award was held, under the Presidency of Javier del Pozo Portillo, with the following architects present:

Dalila ElKerdany, Nabil Gholam, Imad Hassan, Rafael de la Hoz, Josep Lluis Mateo, Tarek Naga, Antonio Ortiz;

With the architect of the Dubai Municipality, Roxy Binno, acting as Secretary of the Jury. Cino Zucchi and Alfonso Vegara were not able to attend the final meeting. Jaime Duro represented the UIA during the entire Jury Process.

PROCESS OF THE AWARD:

2967 teams, with 4651 architects from 106 countries were admitted to participate in the Award. 926 projects were received by the organizers during the official reception period.

During the first meeting of the Award, the Jury Members analysed all 926 projects, and approved 106 projects for the following stage.

An on-line voting period was held where the architects chose their 10 preferred finalists, and from this process, 62 projects were selected.

The last meeting was held on the 28th and 29th of April. Through successive voting processes, the number of projects was reduced to 20, then 10 and then five finalists.

THE JURY OF THE AWARD DECLARES THAT:

Following an extensive debate and analysis of the projects, the Jury decided that the last 10 projects have a merit and decided to award 5 projects as finalists:

A2712, 72063, 7473, 30808, 09100

Following this, the Jury decided the following winners of the XI edition of the ThyssenKrupp Elevator Architecture Award:

First Prize,for the project presented with the password 30808 (Dubai Frame).

As Second Prize, the Jury chose the project 72063 (Magic Mirror).

The following Third Prizes (without order between them) for the following projects:

  • A2712 (The Flying colours of Dubai).

  • 7473 (Big Beam)

  • 09100 (The Mirage)

The Jury wants to congratulate the winner for the projects presented.
